1. Introduction

Furniture Place Kenya ("we", "us", "our") operates furnitureplacekenya.co.ke. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.

2. Data We Collect

We may collect the following types of personal data:

• Name and phone number (required at checkout)
• Email address (only if you choose to provide it)
• Delivery address for order fulfillment
• Order history and transaction records
• Usage data including pages visited, products viewed, searches performed, and actions such as add-to-cart and purchase events via Google Analytics. IP addresses are anonymized.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

• Process and fulfill your orders
• Contact you regarding your order status or delivery
• Improve our website, products, and services

We do not currently send promotional or marketing communications. If this changes in future, we will only do so with your consent.

4. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored securely using Supabase's cloud infrastructure, with industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit and at rest.
• All pages are protected with SSL encryption (HTTPS)
• We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone. We only share the minimum information necessary with trusted services that help us run our store and deliver your orders, as described below.

Services we share data with

• Supabase stores your order and account information securely.
• Vercel hosts our website and processes standard web traffic logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of running the site.
• Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use our site, with IP addresses anonymized.
• WhatsApp order notifications: when you place an order, we send a notification to our team via a WhatsApp messaging service so we can process your order quickly. This notification includes your order reference and total only. It does not include your name, phone number, or delivery address.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including order fulfilment and legal compliance. Order records are retained for a minimum of 30 days following any deletion request, after which they are permanently removed from our systems. Active order records are retained for as long as necessary to fulfil your order and comply with applicable laws, after which they are securely deleted.

6. Your Rights Under the KDPA

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of Access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. We will provide a summary of your order history and associated data upon verified request.
• Right to Data Portability — You may request an export of your personal data in a machine-readable format (CSV). Requests are fulfilled upon verified contact via the details below.
• Right to Correction — You may request correction of inaccurate personal data on your orders (including name, phone number, email address, and delivery address). All corrections are recorded with a reason and audit trail.
• Right to Deletion (Erasure) — You may request deletion of your personal data. Upon a verified request, your order records will be scheduled for deletion following a minimum 30-day retention period required for business and legal compliance. Existing orders in progress will continue to be fulfilled before deletion is applied.
• Right to Restriction of Processing — You may request that we restrict processing of your personal data. Upon a verified request, no new orders will be accepted from your contact details. Existing orders already in progress will be completed normally.
• Right to Object — Object to processing of your data for direct marketing

7. Cookies

We use a mix of cookies and browser storage to make the site work well and to understand how it is used:

• Browser storage (not cookies): your cart and favourites are saved in your browser so they are there when you come back. We also remember if you have dismissed our cookie notice or a site announcement.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site. These cookies are anonymized.

You can clear your browser's storage and cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will clear your cart, but will not affect your order history, which is safely stored on our servers.
